Oldham Parish Church

Over the past 6 weeks I've been recording the history and form of the Grade II* listed Church of St Mary and St Peter, Oldham. This was an academic study as part of my degree in Conservation of the Historic Environment from the College of Estate Management and has been posted off today (yay!). It is generally recognised as good conservation practice to make records of historic buildings available for future studies and as such I will be leaving a copy of my report in the local study archives and a link to a PDF can be found below.

If you're interested in history, heritage or historic buildings then I hope you find something of interest. I'm relatively new to recording of historic buildings and so all feedback will be gratefully received.

Here's the link to my report: The Church of St Mary and St Peter, Oldham

My next assignment requires me to investigate another local historic building, research its history and architectural style and place it in context with similar buildings of the same period and by the same architect. The building I have chosen, in conjunction with the local Civic Society, is Werneth Park Music Rooms; an unused C19 park building. The building has recently had a feasibility studied carried out by Lloyd Evans Prichard with a view to obtaining a Heritage Lottery Fund grant for returning the building to functional use.
