ICE Membership confirmed

Yesterday I received the great news that I have been accepted as a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, allowing me to use the designatory letters MICE (insert random joke about cheese here).

In other news, my third assignment is under way for my MSc and involves me preparing a report for the Client of  a Georgian House giving advice on statutory and non-statutory conservation frameworks. A 1930s shop front is to be removed and the house reverted to residential use whilst the construction of a garage is being considered in the rear garden. It's interesting to research the development of planning and Building Regulations and to see where modern day legislation has developed from. I particularly enjoy reading old documents written in traditional English language; how fun it would be to send out reports written in the same language today!
