Windsor Castle visit

Windsor Castle is a working royal palace and the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. St George's Chapel lies within the walls of Windsor, is a fantastic example of gothic architecture and holds the tombs of ten former kings and queens. Earlier today I was in the area so took the opportunity to tour the Castle. The whole experience left me amazed and speechless, the architecture is superb and the rich history and association with royals past and present is something that anyone interested in history and heritage should try to experience.

Although no internal photographs of the state rooms and chapel were allowed I took some exterior photos and the best of these are below:

King Henry VIII Gate

St George's Chapel

Tracery to the West Window of St George's Chapel

George IV Gate from Upper Ward courtyard

Round Tower (The Keep)

Norman Gate

The Guard

Edward III Tower

St George's Chapel

Lower Ward castle wall
